Gwen de Lucero's Airdrome Aeroplanes Fokker D.VIII.
Findlay, OH

We visited Gwen's Fokker D.VIII project May 3rd, 2006. She is doing a wonderful job building this airplane in her single car garage. Her workshop is so small that she keeps her engine in the kitchen! I don't know how her husband, Eduardo, puts up with it. ;>) Just kidding, she's as crazy about her project as any homebuilder is. And just for the record, no, she doesn't have a sister. I can tell you this, her airplane is going to be awesome when it's done.

You should see the F-16 simulator cockpit that she built. Too cool! She even wrote the code to make the the Falcon 4.0 simulator program interface with the real cockpit instrumentation. Unfortunately her simulator wasn't up and running when we were there. She said the simulator is on the back burner until the Fokker is flying. I forgot to ask how many hours she had building, and logged flying, the simulator.

Check out this little video clip of Gwen demonstrating how easy it is to get in her Fokker.

Thank you, Gwen and Eduardo for hosting a great meeting! We look forward to seeing your D.VIII in the air!
